SSSI Management Plan
Lea Marshes SSSI
Extraordinarily a Freedom of Information request from Natural England failed to elicit the management plan for the SSSI. Sometimes it seems as if you are more likely to get information out of the CIA than anything to do with LVRPA. See LVRPA planning applications .

Dear Mr Ward

Access to information request - Information not held - Request no 2295

Thank you for your request for the current management plan approved by Natural England in respect of Walthamstow Marshes SSSI, which we received on 27 November 2013. Your request has been considered under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIRs).

Natural England does not hold a copy of the current Walthamstow Marshes management plan, as Lee Valley Regional Park Authority (LVRPA) are in the process of refreshing this document to reflect the detail of the new Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) agreement. We are therefore applying the exception in Regulation 12(4)(a) of the EIRs, where a public authority may refuse to disclose information to the extent that it does not hold that information when an applicant's request is received. The HLS agreement contains specific, targeted management prescriptions to address the notified features of the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Natural England understands that LVRPA is undertaking public consultation during the process of refreshing the management plan.

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. If you are not content with the outcome of that complaint, or the review of our decision, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision.
